The basic W4 version of Mahindra XUV 500 costs below Rs 10 lakhs

There have been reports from sources that Mahindra and Mahindra is keen to construct a lower priced model of the crossover version of XUV500. There is also information on the company agreeing to build a W4 variant. The W4 will be the basic model of the SUV. The car will be priced between Rs 9.5 to 10 lakhs, and will arrive in few months at a price below 10 lakhs. This would increase the competition with other rivals such as Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport.

The company will remove few features and introduce a refreshed center console. In terms of transmission and engine, the company will retain certain fitments on the low priced model. The engine fitments will be retained with a powerful 2.2 liter turbo diesel power train matted to six speed manual transmission options. There is also a dynamic 2.2 liter turbo mill with the advanced mHawk technology that releases impressive efficiencies of 330Nm peak power and 140bhp highest power. The mileage offered is pretty decent at 15 Kmpl.

The company will remove some of the features in the entry level version of W4 such as audio system; EBD and ABS, the other features that would be omitted are light sensing headlamps, rain sensing wipers, infotainment device, driver information system, micro hybrid technology, reverse parking sensors. With respect to exteriors the features that would not be present are fog lamps and roof rails. The XUV500 at present is released in 3 versions like the W8 All Wheel Drive, W8 Front Wheel Drive and W6 Front Wheel Drive.

The exciting fact about the entry level W4 variant of XUV 500 is the car is priced at a price below Rs 10 lakhs. The XUV500 is a highly popular model since launch; the car is appreciated for its potent engine and study exterior frame built with the cutting edge design technology called monocoque chassis.
